LOGIC HAS
IT........
By Captain Jonathan Steele
First off I want to thank
everyone who attended our 10th Anniversary Party, July 22nd at
Dave and Buster's, the
food was great, but sharing our event with friends was even better.
We appreciate the good
wishes from the members of the U.S.S. Yorktown NCC - 1704 - A, and the
wonderful picture plaque of John Glenn's Shuttle Launch presented to the
ship by Kevin Petite and Laurie Graving. Thank you all, hopefully the Camelot
will continue to "boldly go" far into the future. We also started a NEW
tradition at the party; the Knighting of the Camelot's Captain. I was escorted
on behalf of the 2nd Marine Strike Group by CO Mark Meece and Lt. Cindy
Johnson to the front of the room where on bended knee I was promptly "knighted"
by Captain Rick Alvey. It was appropriate that Rick used Cindy's "Excaliber"
sword. I thank the entire crew for their encouragement and their ability
to keep the knighting a secret. I won't mention the knick I sufferred on
my right ear.............just kidding!!
See ya next time,
Jonathan
News you use from/about the crew
On Monday July 24th members of the Camelot along with the U.S.S. Yorktown met at the Northern Kenutcky/Greater Cincinnati International Airport to see off crewmate Ina Kratzsch who had to fly home to Germany due to her visa expiring. Ina and her parents were there to catch their flight back to their home in Leipzig. The good news is that Ina may be returning to us in October. For now she will rejoin her shipmates on the U.S.S. Atlantis and tell them of her adventures with the crazy trek people here in the states. In less than a year's time Ina has experienced Camp Dover, Bountyball, and even split a Klingon with crewmate Robin Fenner-Barbee. If you would like to send Ina messages, her e-mail address is

The Koba-Razi Short sword
training session was such a success that Captain
Rick Alvey is scheduling more sessions. Look for more details in Rick's
"Security Breech" column.
Want to go back to the time of Camelot? Swords, Dragons, magic and monsters! Learn to play Dungeons & Dragons. If anyone wants to learn to play, just send Rick Alvey an e-mail message and we can set up a time to start playing.
Also from Rick:
Beginning in November, learn how to use the preferred weapons of the Ghurka. I will start teaching the Kukri drill team. Everyone is welcome that wants to learn how to use this weapon. From everyone that participates, I will choose five to represent the Camelot at Dover when we perform drills. More details closer to November.

SerinityCon is making
a comeback after several years. It is scheduled for the weekend of August
17 -19, 2001 at the Dayton Holiday Inn South in Miamisburg near Dayton
Mall. It is being hosted by the IKV TevveS from Middletown. The Camelot
has been asked to help with the Con, and participate in activities. There
will plenty of meetings between now and then as things start to take shape.
The URL for their website is:

While the details are
still being worked on, plan now for a "REAL MILLENNIUM" party for New Year's
Eve. It will be held at a hotel in the Middlwtown area near I-75. The U.S.S.
Yorktown will also be helping out. We are billing this as an "All Sci-Fi
Clubs" party. So spread the word and we hope to have more detailed information
in next issue.

Kellie Hamilton is inviting
all up to Bucyrus, Ohio the first weekend of October, to join them in participating
in the Bucyrus Oktoberfest Parade. Contact Commodore Russell Grubb for
more details. Kellie and her mother (both Camelot members) have opened
their very own costume clothing creation shop called "Just Pretend" in
Gallion. We hope to make a trip there in September to help promote their
shop. Please keep them in mind for any of your uniform or costume needs,
they are very very good at creating costumes.

Now that we have celebrated
our first 10 years. We enter the next with a NEW ship.
We are now redesignated
as the U.S.S. Camelot NCC-2307-A, Excaliber Class.
The ship's profile is
available on crew shirts. If you haven't order a shirt yet, you may do
so by contacting Captain Steele. Mark Meece has added the website address
to the back of his ship to help promote the webpage. We encourage any members
having shirts made to consider this when ordering.

We now have a 2nd Marines webpage at :
Last issue we discussed the standard
BDU for the Marines. There are many ways you can accessorize the BDU. The
main piece of headgear has been the Black Beret, this can be worn plain,
have the UFP logo, or
a symbol representing your unit. You
can adorn it with various other pins at the permission of the group's Commanding
Officer.
As leader of the 2nd Marines I am permitting use of a black headwrap/skullcap, I like the look of the black headwrap with the BDUs, I wore one at Dover and Klingon Year Games.
I am trying to find a way to incorporate
the use of a black ranger vest with the BDU.
We are also considering implementing
a dress uniform and a casual dress uniform.
I am always open to any ideas and suggestions.
More next issue!
SECURITY BREECH
By: Captain
Rick Alvey
Well, the Security division and the
Red Dragons hosted the first of many seminars. There
were a total of ten people that showed
up for the Koba Razi - Panther Sword Form - training.
We had a slight delay on Saturday as
the rain moved in for a little bit. After a slight delay and
a movement of the training area, we
started working on the sword form. The group did really
good since the majority of the group
had had no Martial Art training before. By Sunday
afternoon, the group had the form down
pretty good. Even though Denise had more fun with
the "Whoop A$$ sticks, the weekend
proved very fruitful. I've been asked to repeat the Koba
Razi training. I will try to
schedule it in the fall after the weather cools down a little. This
training can be very intensive as far
as heat. Look for the training to be sometime in
September. I'll have to schedule
it in between my away missions to train with my chief
instructor for Bando.
Also, I plan on starting the Kukri drill
team training in late October or early November.
Everyone is invited to train.
I will pick the best five for the Honor Guard that we will be taking
to Dover next year. The drill
team will perform at least the 3 X 9 kukri drill. If I can get the
6X
9 drill down enough to teach it and
the team can manage it, we will perform both sets in honor
of all veterans. This should
impress the hell out of the Klingons. I hope that everyone comes
out and tries to learn these drills.
To let everyone know, everything that
I am teaching is from the Burmese Martial Art of
Bando. The American Bando Association,
whose chief Instructor is Dr. Maung Gyi, was set
up to pay tribute to the veterans of
all wars, past and present. The demonstrations and drills
that I teach will be done in the same
vein. I feel that it is an honor that I am able to teach
everyone what I have had the pleasure
of learning. Everything that I teach has been proven
in war as being very effective.
Even though now we do this in the forms, it is a time honored
tradition to pay honor to those who
have died in war using these techniques that we are
shown.
I look forward to teaching everyone these drills.
Just remember,
Never Give Up!
Never Surrender!
